Two television workouts and a half mile walk every week will not cut it unless you are on an extreme diet. Also, just because you are eating three healthy meals a day doesn’t mean you are eating healthily. Did you forget about the snacks you had in between meals?
In order to lose weight you can’t do the minimum and expect to see results. You have to push yourself and break bad habits and form good ones. These new habits should eventually become a lifestyle and not just habits.
Now, the important part;
1. DIY
This is pretty simple. Instead of asking for others to do something for you, do it yourself. Even if it is as simple as walking down the hall to pick up a paper you printed. This gets you up and on your feet.
2. Workout
Also pretty simple, but the reasons for this are multiple. Not only does working out burn calories it will also build muscle. Muscle will actually help speed up the process of losing weight because it will continue to burn calories even after you leave the gym. (This doesn’t mean do endless hours of cardio, this is strength training)
3. Play
This is a big one. If you go play a sport you will be running thus burning more calories and having more fun than if you were sitting at home on your couch watching another rerun of Law & Order. Who knows, you might even find a friend to motivate you there.
4. Fill in the gaps
I don’t know how many times I’ve been sitting around my house and realized that I’m bored as hell. These are the best times to get up and do something. Maybe it is that half hour jog I mentioned above. Or maybe it’s a set of push-ups.
Good luck on getting fit!
